Review: My Beauty Diary Sheet Masks- Apple Polyphenol and Strawberry Yogurt

June 6, 2015 by Ms Rachel 5 Comments

Review: My Beauty Diary Sheet Masks

I’m not a joiner. At all. Hype and promotional cheerleading set my teeth on edge. I am from the school of under promise and over deliver. I refuse on principle to gush. However (those sneaky caveats), I have to make an exception for the My Beauty Diary Sheet Masks in Apple Polyphenol and Strawberry Yogurt. Heaven on my face. No joke, they saved my skin just in time for me to renew my driver’s license.

Smile for the camera!

The process of testing new products for acne, combined with a less than ideal diet for a couple weeks, meant my skin was experiencing a lovely purge (not really lovely, but once the gunk is gone, my skin will be lovely). The problem was I didn’t want to carry around a DL for four years that looked like the before photo of an extreme makeover. Enter the My Beauty Diary Sheet Masks.

The boxes and mask packages. Guess which is Apple and Which is Strawberry

The boxes and mask packages. Guess which is Apple and Which is Strawberry

This will be a two product review (thought I’d spoil you just this once.)

First the Apple Mask.

Product: My Beauty Diary Mask – Apple Polyphenol

Marketed for: Moisturizing, smoothing, firming, and especially recommended for enlarged pores.

Product Description: Contains removes dead cells of skin, improves and prevents enlarged pores Hyaluronic acid – stimulates synthesis of collagen, improves skin’s firmness and resilience Gentle nano – AHAs prolong pore-contracting effects

Ingredients: Purified Water, Propylene Glycol, 1,3-Butylene Glycol, Water cress Extract, Glycerine, Apple Extract, Algae Extract, Nanospheres, Aloe Extract, Albumin, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Extract, Bladder wrack, Gentian Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Arnica Extract, Bio-Active Silanols, Lemon Extract, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Sodium Hydroxide, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Butyl Paraben, Methyl Paraben, Ethyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, Tween 20, Lactamide, Fragrance

Potential Triggers: No major acne or irritant triggers. As always listen to your skin. If you notice a pattern of a particular ingredient causing sensitivity, then avoid it.

First Impression: Simple but cute packaging. Comes in a box of ten and is affordable (aw yeah). The smell reminds me of fresh cut Granny Smith Apples, not overly sweet just fresh. As for the amount of product, this mask is super saturated, positively dripping with goodness, enough I can squeeze out a sizeable amount to use as a serum a day later from the packaging.

Results: Ah, sweet mystery of life at last I’ve found thee! Seriously, I’ve never found anything to work so fast on my skin. In 20 minutes, the redness in the inflamed spots had significantly reduced, a spot of cystic acne that was trying to come on shrunk by half its size, and ultimately healed entirely in a few days as opposed to several weeks.

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5. I will absolutely be repurchasing these.

And now the second product, the Strawberry Yogurt mask.

Product: My Beauty Diary – Strawberry Yogurt

Marketed for: Oil control, skin lightening, bright complexion.

Product Description: My Beauty Diary’s Strawberry Yogurt Mask II natural strawberry essence contains rich amounts of fruit acids, minerals, and enzymes, which cleanse and moisturize the skin. Combined with the active lactic acid ingredients found in yogurt essence it can help to balance the oil composition of the skin and help shrink the skin pores to improve the texture of the skin and remove any excess oily shine. Strawberries and yogurt are a perfect combination, but when arbutin extracts are added, the mixture restores moisture and luster to damaged skin, returning it to a beautiful and healthy condition again. This mask increases the moisture and softness of the skin. Mallow extracts combined with the blink lock water efficiency element y PGA standard poly acid form a layer of moisture on the skin, keeping skin moist, lustrous, fresh and bright. Just like the sweetness of the strawberry and the smoothness of yogurt, every of your skin will be beautifully transformed.

Ingredients: WATER, GLYCERIN, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, PHENOXYETHANOL, CHLORPHENESIN, ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE, TRIETHANOLAMINE, FRAGARIA VESCA (STRAWBERRY) FRUIT EXTRACT, FRAGRANCE, POLYSORBATE 20, YOGURT EXTRACT, SODIUM HYALURONATE, XANTHAN GUM, CITRIC ACID, ENANTIA CHLORANTHA BARK EXTRACT, HYDROLYZED RICE PROTEIN, DIPOTASSIUM GLYCYRRHIZATE, ACER SACCHARUM (SUGAR MAPLE) EXTRACT, ARCTOSTAPHYLOS UVA URSI LEAF EXTRACT, CITRUS AURANTIUM DULCIS (ORANGE) FRUIT EXTRACT, CITRUS MEDICA LIMONUM (LEMON) PEEL EXTRACT, CODIUM TOMENTOSUM EXTRACT, HYDROLYZED SOY PROTEIN, LAMINARIA DIGITATA EXTRACT, LECITHIN, MALVA SYLVESTRIS (MALLOW) FLOWER EXTRACT, POLYSORBATE 80, SACCHARUM OFFICINARUM (SUGAR CANE) EXTRACT, VACCINIUM MYRTILLUS FRUIT EXTRACT, CARBOMER, PEG-15 HYDROXYSTEARATE, IODOPROPYNYL BUTYLCARBAMATE, POLYGLUTAMIC ACID, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, SODIUM LACTATE, SODIUM PCA, GLYCOSPHINGOLIPIDS, TOCOPHERYLACETATE

Potential Triggers/Irritants: No major triggers or irritants. As always listen to your own skin. If you are allergic to strawberries, probably best to pass this one up.

First Impression: Cute packaging as with the Apple. No real fragrance, this mask didn’t smell like much of anything. This mask is also super saturated with product.

Results: every bit as good as the Apple. I used to smash fresh strawberries with plain yogurt to use as a mask, and my skin was always glowing and soft afterwards. Problem is that homemade mask was so messy and difficult to apply that it really dampened my desire to use it. The Strawberry Yogurt sheet mask does the same job my homemade mask did, only better. My skin is glowing from use.

Rating: 5 out of 5. With an affordable price tag and easy shipping from Amazon, I will definitely keep these on hand.

Where to buy: I purchased mine through Amazon for $11.99 for a box of 10 masks, same for both types of masks. There are reputable sellers on EBay as well. The direct company website for My Beauty Diary is not functioning well for me at the moment.

If you give these masks a whirl, I’d love to hear about your results.
